EXCLUSIVE: Personality of the Month

Exclusive interview
-pls can we meet you?
I am Justice Iyawa but I prefer people call me JIM powers
-Why do you choose that name?
JIM is just an abbreviation for Justice is Mine
-Tell us about your family?
I am from a family of 4, 3 guys and a girl
-Where are you from?
I am from a community called Oruru Agbamise in Agbo
-Can we know your CGPA or its something personal?
I don't see anything personal in academics because when you eventually leave school, people will still know.  My CGPA is 4.31
-Before Novena, were you a student of another institution?
Yes, my first institution is school of health technology presently called college of health sciences and I graduated from health education promotion department
-So of all schools, why did you choose to come to Novena. ?
At first I came to sell my book in this school titled  'lesbianism and lesbian' it was when I then I knew about Public and community health and I got interested base on the fact that I graduated from a related course.
-How would you say being a one time president of PCH has affected your life.?
Many persons will say it is difficult to manage politics with academics, it' s all about God's grace, being the immediate past president is cool according to Martin Luther King there are born rulers and pressurised rulers. PCH is a multi religious department, the only thing I did was to merge everyone up so everyone would not be left out.
-what were your achievements?
Before I will highlight the things I have done, I must commend my predecessor and my executives, what we did was publishing the association's constitution, stickers, electrified the staff block and attached a generator set, production od ID cards, the relaxation seat in sciences that was commissioned by the DVC and 3 provosts which the school used to produce the others, we opened a departmental account with Fidelity bank, procurement of sporting wears, maintenance of the urinary, PCH anthem, contribution of our quoter in the licensing of community health.

-How were you able to fund all these?
We solicited for funds from outside, student's departmental dues. I cannot categorically tell you how much of the departmental due is allocated to us.
-What were your challenges.?
As a young man of just 28 leading fathers, mothers and people from versatile background, my challenges were beurocracy, disapproval of the management to allow us take PCH students to Ghana foe a 5day conference because of the transition of government. That was the only thing in my manifesto I did not achieve.
-Moving on to something personal aside work. Are you in a relationship.?
(Big smile) I cannot categorically tell you that I am or not in a relationship.
-why?
Its just personal and I don't really talk about it and I don't want the media to know my relationship status.
-My audience especially the female folk will like to know because you are one of the most eligible bachelors in school.?
I cannot tell you because the philosophy of girls is that all men are the same, no man is single and these are the things I want to change, but in a nutshell. .. I am in a relationship.
-Can we know the name of the Lucky girl.?
(Laughs) I can only tell you the name of the person when am married.
-what will you advice current 100lvl and other students who hope to graduate with your kind of grade?
Success is not all about hardwork if not truck pushers would be the richest, success is doing what is required against what is desired, to attain greater grade is not spending much time in church and less time with your books, fasting and praying in the place of reading is the fastest way to failure. Attaining this grade is all about passion, hunger and desire (PHD).Try and aim to get an A so if you don't, you'll fall in Bs, I don't read, I study and studying is the multiplication of reading and above all God's grace.
-After Novena what next for you
As a potential politician and health educationist by profession, I intend to delve into Public health in practice.
