The former coach of the Super Eagles Stephen Keshi was widely reported by the media as arrogant and one who had little respect for authority. The coach divides opinion like no other.
While some have hailed his handling of the AFCON 2013 affair, when the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) booked return flight tickets for the Eagles before the quarter-final clash with Ivory Coast, others say the former Mali boss was lucky in 2013 and his efforts in the AFCON qualifiers and the 2014 World Cup tell how incompetent he really was.
However, one person who must have not been pleased with Keshi is Christoper Green who revealed to Sportinglife that he recommended the former coach’s sacking.
Back in late 2013 when the Maigari/Pinnick/Chris Giwa NFF leadership crisis was boiling hot,
sources claimed Keshi used his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) influence to get Green and Aminu Maigari arrested by the DSS.
Green never reconciled with Keshi despite their public appearances and allegedly began moves to remove Keshi after the PDP was ousted from power by the Muhammadu Buhari -ed All Progressives Congress (APC).

Green has confirmed that he recommemded Keshi’s sacking because of his arrogance and lack of respect for constituted authorities.
The NFF’s disciplinary committee chairman said: “I personally recommended the sack of Stephen Keshi because he has no respect for the nation. He has no remorse whatsoever for any of his actions. You need to see how he presented himself when he appeared before our committee. He showed no remorse, and never believed he did anything wrong. So I had to recommend his sack”
He begged Nigerians to support the Amaju Pinnick-led NFF board.
He said: “We need to support the President of NFF Amaju Pinnick in his quest in repositioning Nigeria football; he has a vision for the country’s football, and we should support him”.

Green said of the ongoing Nigerian Premier League:  “We can see that there is a lot of improvement in the League, and this can be buttressed by the number of away wins that have been recorded in the season, and the breaking of the 13- year-record of Kano Pillars in Kano.
“That is good for our football, and everyone can see that you can win anywhere, as long as you play well. We need to praise the LMC and everyone involved in the administration of the League.”
